The Texans released veteran cornerback Aaron Colvin on Tuesday after an ugly game against the New Orleans Saints and a rocky first season last year, according to league sources not authorized to speak publicly.Colvin was replaced on the roster by former Rice cornerback Phillip Gaines, who was signed to a one-year contract following a successful tryout Tuesday, according to league sources.Colvin was entering the second year of a four-year, $34 million contract signed last year that included $18 million guaranteed. He was due a fully guaranteed $7.5 million base salary.Colvin got picked on repeatedly during a 30-28 defeat Monday night at the Superdome and that spelled the end of his tenure with the Texans.
